The Burlington High field hockey team scored a goal in each half on the way to an exciting 2-0 victory over Woburn.
It was the first win of the season for the Red Devils, who used a stubborn defense to hold off the Tanners for the entire 60 minutes of action.
Senior Leah Marshall and junior Renee LeComte had the BHS goals with freshman Sloane Wilson and junior Elisabeth Delorey earning assists.
Sophomore goalie Mason Alongi picked up the shutout victory in goal.
In other recent action, Burlington lost to Belmont (2-0), Arlington (3-0), Wilmington (1-0) and Wakefield (3-0).
The Devils also had a 2-2 with Melrose.
In that contest, sophomore Lexi MacKinnon and junior Mia Lauder had the BHS tallies.
Burlington has three other goals this season.
MacKinnon scored in a 4-1 loss to Stoneham and Lecomte had the goal in a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Lexington, assisted by Lauder.
In a 3-1 loss to Reading, MacKinnon had Burlington’s goal after a nifty play that went from Mia Lauder to LeComte to Wilson before MacKinnon finished the play.
Burlington is coached by AnnMarie McNeill and Lindsay Shepard and has three seniors on the squad including Marshall, Julianne Pascale and Haley McMakin.
The Devils are back on the field Wednesday in Stoneham.
